But we can always hope&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It is a <em>closed source<\/em> browser (I believe), using a fork of Google&#8217;s <strong>open source<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chromium.org\/blink\/\">blink rendering engine<\/a> So the accessibility of web pages viewed in the browser should be pretty good, as long as the page it is rendering is built with <em>accessibility in mind<\/em>. It is unknown whether the engine will be updated from the blink source or not, if bugs in general and\u00a0 accessibility bugs will or will not be fixed, There does not appear to be a public bug tracker, which other browsers have, but lets keep hoping&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2>Welcome to ChatGPT Atlas<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1765 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/html5accessibility.com\/stuff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot-2025-10-23-132505-1.jpg\" alt=\"intro screen of the Atlas browser &quot;wecome to ChatGPT Atlas&quot;\" width=\"789\" height=\"556\" srcset=\"https:\/\/html5accessibility.com\/stuff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot-2025-10-23-132505-1.jpg 789w, https:\/\/html5accessibility.com\/stuff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot-2025-10-23-132505-1-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/html5accessibility.com\/stuff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Screenshot-2025-10-23-132505-1-768x541.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 789px) 100vw, 789px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Welcome screen is very simple but manages to squeeze in multiple accessibility issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Images without useful alternative text<\/li>\n<li>low contrast text<\/li>\n<li>a button without a text label (or accessible name)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This does not augur well, but hey let&#8217;s stay optimistic&#8230; At least the <em>login with with ChatGPT<\/em> button is labelled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"note\">I am not going to do an exhaustive review of <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/introducing-chatgpt-atlas\/\">ChatGPT Atlas browser<\/a> as I am <em>exhausted<\/em> by the litany of issues I have found while only scratching the surface of this browser.
