JAWS (only) NO MORE

A surreal scene featuring a shark with its mouth wide open, but with some unusual and abstract characteristics. The creature’s gaping mouth is the focal point, showcasing a circular, glowing object or portal at the center of its throat (Patrick's old TPG logo design). This gives the impression of an otherworldly or cosmic energy source within the shark’s mouth. The surrounding environment is dominated by warm hues, primarily sandy oranges and reds, suggesting a desert or arid atmosphere, rather than an underwater scene typically associated with sharks. The blurry texture of the image, with grainy elements, adds a dreamlike or distorted feel, as if this scene were part of a hallucination or abstract artwork. The overall mood is eerie and strange, combining elements of both the natural world and the fantastical.

In 2017 I embarked on a journey to improve and open the reporting of issues with JAWS support for Web Standards.

I continued to work on this after leaving TPGi, until now…

One of the resources I created and maintained while involved with the project was Jaws HTML Support. This resource provides information about how JAWS supports the semantics of each HTML element. As this documentation is open source, I will continue to maintain and further develop it.

In fact I am working on similar resources for VoiceOver, NVDA and TalkBack, all in their new Safe European Home (repo): Screen reader HTML support

not safe to use” refers to the information provided, not the screen reader!

As they should be, these resources are open source: Forks, Issues and PR’s welcome!

Safe European Home

Lyrics
Well, I just got back and I wish I'd never leave now (where'd you go?)
Who dat Martian arrival at the airport, yeah? (where'd you go?)
How many local dollars for a local anesthetic? (where'd you go?)
The Johnny on the corner wasn't very sympathetic (where'd you go?)
I went to the place where every white face
Is an invitation to robbery
And sitting here in my safe European home
Don't want to go back there again
Wasn't I lucky, wouldn't it be lovely? (where'd you go?)
Send us all cards, have a laying-in on Sunday (where'd you go?)
I was there for two weeks, so how come I never tell, now? (where'd you go?)
That natty dread drink at the Sheraton hotel, yeah (where'd you go?)
I went to the place where every white face
Is an invitation to robbery
And sitting here in my safe European home
Don't want to go back there again
They got the sun, and they got the palm trees (where'd you go?)
They got the weed, and they got the taxis (where'd you go?)
Whoa, the harder they come, the home of ol' bluebeat (where'd you go?)
I'd stay and be a tourist but I can't take the gunplay (where'd you go?)
I went to the place where every white face
Is an invitation to robbery
And sitting here in my safe European home
Don't want to go back there again
What?
Rudie come from Jamaica, Rudie can't fail
Rudie come from Jamaica, Rudie can't fail
Rudie come from Jamaica, 'cause Rudie can't fail
Rudie come From Jamaica, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (European home)
Rudie come From Jamaica, Rudie can't fail (explosive European home)
Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie, Rudie can't fail (twenty-four track European home)
Elder come and a-Rudie go, no one knows where the policeman's go

Steve, great resources, thank you. A suggestion – perhaps it would be worth clarifying whether you mean “in progress not safe to use” means that NVDA is not safe to use for its HTML support or the resource that describes the NVDA support is itself not safe to use. 🙂

Thanks Andrew, I have added a note:

“not safe to use” refers to the information provided, not the screen reader!

I am aware of https://a11ysupport.io/ and have contributed (though not much as am busy contributing elsewhere) These resources serve different functions as they are meant to be a cheatsheet type of doc for the various assistive tech.
